The campaign to push for the delivery of the promised new station at Beam Park has been stepped up. Before being elected in July 2024 as Dagenham and Rainham’s Member of Parliament and since then, Margaret Mullane has campaigned tirelessly for the station taking the argument to the GLA, Network Rail, c2c and the Department for Transport.

Margaret met with the Government’s Rail Minister, Lord Hendy, in Parliament on 4 June to present the case for the station to be given the green light.

Margaret said “This was a most encouraging meeting with the Rail Minister. He had been briefed on my representations and had been in discussion with his officials at the Department for Transport.

There was full recognition that the previous government’s block on the station has blighted regeneration plans that will bring business investment, new jobs and homes to the area. I also pointed out that families had bought homes at Beam Park on the clear belief that there would be a station and travel times to central London would be 20 minutes.”

Margaret went on to add “Lord Hendy said that the Mayor of London is also pushing for the new station to be delivered and that he will be setting up a meeting with him to look to progress matters.”
