Margaret Mullane has been working on solving various issues regarding Cherry Tree car park and CCTV, dangerous parking, and the constant flooding at Tesco Express Cherry Tree car park. Due to the numerous issues Margaret has now launched a campaign to ‘clean up the Cherry Tree.’ Margaret is happy to provide updates of where she has got so far, and what she plans to do.
Cherry Tree Car Park:
Havering Council have informed Margaret that they do have CCTV in Cherry Tree Car Park, and their environment Enforcement team are currently taking action on the fly tippers. As this is an ongoing investigation, the council are unable to further comment at this time. The area is currently being monitored with rubbish being removed when seen. Margaret will keep on the council about this issue as it is continuously raised with her from constituents.
Dangerous Parking:
Margaret approached Havering council regarding dangerous parking outside shops at the Cherry Tree. The council responded stating that the Parking Enforcement Team Lead has confirmed that Rainham Road is regularly patrolled at various times. During December enforcement officers patrolled on 44 different occasions issuing 9 Penalty Charge Notices. The officers have been instructed to be especially vigilant at this location.
Flooding of Tesco Express, Cherry Tree:
Margaret contacted Tesco due to the constant flooding of the new car park at the Tesco Express. During the autumn and winter months, the car park is always flooding wiping out four to five parking bays. Tesco responded stating that the issue is something they are aware of, and the maintenance team are currently investigating. Works have been scheduled for this week to understand the root cause of this problem and they hope to get it fixed as soon as possible.
Future plans:
Margaret will continue to report on issues that arise at the Cherry Tree. The most recent issue that Margaret has raised is the grass verges around the car park which were badly burned two summers ago and haven’t grown back properly. As you can see from the photo above the verges look a mess, and Havering Council must take pride in all areas of Havering – not just the more affluent parts.
