Dagenham Heathway Police Team Success in Week 1

Margaret Mullane, Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, has campaigned tirelessly in her efforts to combat rising violent crime and anti-social behaviour. Her “Bring Back Our Bobbies” campaign has had thousands of petition signatures. Last month, off the back of the campaign a nine officer police team was established for Dagenham Heathway.

Following the arrival of the new Dagenham Heathway Policing Team, there have already been noticeable results in the first week:

  • 5 Arrests - Murder, Burglary, Breach of Sexual Harm Order and Points and Blades.

  • 34 Stop and searches carried out.

  • 9 Community Resolutions

  • 1 Penalty Notice for Disorder

  • 6 Intelligence Reports

  • 1 Weapon sweep- A large machete recovered

  • 1 Anti- Social Behaviour Injunction

Following the success in Dagenham Heathway the campaign is now moving on to Elm Park. At a community meeting back in May 2023 residents stated they wanted more presence at transport hubs starting with Dagenham Heathway and then Elm Park. So, in line with the wishes of the community Margaret has now launched the "Bring Back Our Bobbies" campaign in Elm Park.

Margaret has already met with local businesses and residents who have expressed the unacceptable levels of crime in the local area.

Margaret Mullane said: “These results from the first week of action are encouraging, and I thank the new policing team at Dagenham Heathway. However, we will not rest on our laurels. We will continue to actively monitor the impact of the extra policing and seek to achieve even better results for residents. We are never complacent.”
