Defibrillators at c2c stations

Margaret Mullane MP has welcomed commitments given by c2c to ensure that defibrillators are in place and accessible at stations on their rail network.

Margaret’s Rainham Labour members, Sue Watson and Fay Hough had initially raised concerns about the accessibility of the defibrillator at the local station. This was then taken up with c2c.

Margaret commented “The availability of defibrillators is literally life saving in cases of a person suffering a heart attack. We took up the issue of the equipment at Rainham station and how easily it can be accessed.

c2c have now got back to me to confirm that the defibrillator is available to the public, whether there is a member of c2c staff at the station or not, at all times.

They have asked station staff to see whether it would be possible to place a sign next to the box to explain how to open it to access the device.

They went on to say that c2c will be checking on the accessibility of defibrillators at stations across their network to see how best to raise awareness of them and their locations.

I am pleased that c2c has responded so positively, over time the defibrillators will save lives.”
