Two Dagenham schools, Village Infants and William Bellamy Primary, are included in the Mayor of London’s investment programme which will benefit 38 schools across 16 London Boroughs.
Dagenham and Rainham Labour MP, Margaret Mullane, has welcomed the news that the two Dagenham schools are to get the investment in their buildings that will cut energy bills by on average £15,000 a year.
Margaret said “This is an excellent investment programme in London’s schools and I am delighted with this announcement from City Hall that will be a real help to Village Infants and William Bellamy, two schools that I know well.
The Greener Schools programme should save the schools on average about £15,000 on their energy costs – helping them to cut their bills, tackle air pollution and cut carbon emissions. All this at the same time leaving the schools money to spend on what really matters, the education of children.”
The Mayor’s £2.9 million Greener Schools is a pilot programme, which if successful will hopefully be rolled out in future to more schools across London. This investment has leveraged a further £9.6 million for schools to spend on energy saving measures such as better insulation, LED lighting, solar panels and heat pumps.
