Labour Party PPC responds to road safety concerns outside Dagenham Heathway station

Margaret Mullane, the Labour Party PPC for Dagenham and Rainham, was recently contacted by residents in regard to the road crossing outside Dagenham Heathway station.

There have been reports that the traffic lights are broken, and residents state the one working light cannot be seen when crossing due to large crowds of people. This has resulted in individuals taking risks and “guessing” when to cross.

Margaret said: “Dagenham Heathway is a highly busy area with hundreds of people utilising the station each day. The lack of sufficient traffic lights is of real concern to me. I have contacted TFL in regard to this and will keep residents updated as to progress made.”

Since then, Margaret has heard back from TFL who have stated: “Our Asset Operations team visited the site and found that the demand unit LED displays are faulty on two poles. The faults have been raised with our contractors and should be resolved ASAP.”

Margaret thanks TFL for their urgent attention to this matter.
