Margaret Mullane, The Labour Party Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, was recently contacted by concerned residents in regard to street lighting.

Due to a fault in UK Power Networks grid, Billet Road in Marks Gate has been without street lighting since December 2023.

Margaret has written to UK Power Network following requests from residents for intervention. She has asked for a definitive timeline as to when the street lighting can be expected to be restored and has stressed the urgency that this is undertaken.

Margaret said: “Street lighting is a matter of public safety. Residents, particularly vulnerable ones, understandably do not feel safe of a night-time with no street lighting. Street lighting is a real deterrent when it comes to crime, so it is vital that it is restored. Rest assured I will continue to liaise with UK Power Network until the issue is resolved.”
