Merry Christmas Dagenham & Rainham

I want to take the opportunity, as we enter the holiday season, to wish everyone in Dagenham & Rainham a heartfelt Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

What a year 2023 has been! I’ve been honoured to meet so many local people on the doorstep, at coffee mornings, and at community events and I am looking forward to meeting thousands more residents in the new year. Over the coming month a calendar unveiling my pledges to Dagenham & Rainham will be going through letterboxes and at the heart of my offer is a new model of politics, making sure local people are heard at all levels of the political process.

Amidst the chaos of a Tory government seemingly in freefall there are still a lot of positives to take from the year, not least that hope is now on the horizon as we move closer to a general election and a chance to rid ourselves of a government hell bent on punishing working people for their mistakes.

It is no secret that public services are at breaking point, we see it in our NHS at Queen’s Hospital and our GPs, we see it in the lack of police on our streets, and we see it in our communities as vital services have been stripped back through harsh cuts to local government funding. Change is coming.

Under a Labour Government I would build on the work we have already started together as a community, delivering the long-awaited station at Beam Park, finally sorting out the Launder’s Lane disgrace, and continuing the ‘Bring Back Our Bobbies’ campaign – adding to the new police team we have secured for Dagenham Heathway in the new year. I will also ensure that our GPs and Queen’s Hospital feels the benefit when Labour begins the largest recruitment drive in NHS history.

Thank you to those who will be working through the Christmas period – retail staff, carers, the NHS, our emergency workers and many more – what would we do without you. My campaign to be the next MP in Dagenham & Rainham is supported by many voices across the labour movement, and central to my promise at the next election will be a New Deal for Working People.

Christmas is a time for reflection and for spending time with loved ones, be they family or friends. It can also be a tough time of year for many. So, for anyone struggling this Christmas Jon Cruddas MP has shared a list of helpful and emergency contacts HERE

I think as I wrap up it is important to recognise that this Christmas will not be a peaceful one for everyone in the world. My thoughts and prayers are with those families currently living in conflict, and I hope for a peaceful resolution as soon as possible. Back at home, here in Dagenham & Rainham, I wish all our constituents a restful festive season.
