New Health Centre a welcome boost for Beam Park residents

Beam Park Councillors Matt Stanton and Trevor McKeever accompanied Margaret Mullane, PPC for Dagenham & Rainham, on a visit to the new Beam Park Medical Practice on Tuesday 2nd April.

With the closure of the popular GP surgery in Frederick Road, and the promised GP surgery in Orchard Village never materialising, Trevor and Matt had been adamant that new housing developments had to come with adequate social infrastructure to serve the community. Margaret and Jon Cruddas MP, have always reaffirmed that approach.

The new Health Centre will feature the services of a GP practice, together with maternity services, cancer screening including smear tests as well as a pharmacy on site. The practice staff are keen to work with community groups and other organisations to promote wellbeing in the community.

Margaret commented “This is a fantastic new facility for all Beam Park residents. It will serve those in the new homes on the development and in the existing houses. The local  councillors, Matt and Trevor, will be working closely with residents over the next few months to get the health services that local people need, from mental health services to blood tests. Healthcare doesn't have to mean hospital, it should be about accessible resources and information to help keep ourselves healthy".
