Restoration of Rainham War Memorial Clock Face Imminent

Several months ago Margaret Mullane, Labour MP for Dagenham and Rainham, raised concerns about the corroded state of the clock faces on the Rainham War Memorial with Havering Council. This was noted following the November 2023 Remembrance Day service in Rainham.

Last week, senior officials at the Council got back to say that an order has been placed with a contractor to carry out the necessary work. The works to restore the clock face are due to be completed this week (commencing 19th August).

Margaret said “The War Memorial is such a recognisable focal point at the heart of the historic Rainham Village so I am really pleased that, after months of chasing, the council are scheduled to carry out the restoration work this week.

Having pride in the area is so important, I really believe that taking care of and maintaining our public realm builds respect for the area and Rainham Village certainly deserves that respect.”
