Margaret Mullane Labour MP for Dagenham and Rainham has been contacted by residents in the vicinity of Parsonage Farm School concerned about road safety issues.
Havering Council introduced a school street scheme in Farm Road to restrict traffic movement during school drop off and collection times to improve road safety and also encourage parents to walk their children to and from school. Local residents got in touch with Margaret to point out that in conjunction with the current restriction and to further improve road safety in the neighbouring roads, there needs to be a 20 mile per hour speed limit in the area.
Margaret commented “I have asked Havering Council to give consideration to implementing a speed restriction in these roads. Local residents tell me that since the school street in Farm Road was introduced some parents continue to drive their children to the school and some park irresponsibly, up on pavements and on corners. This combined with the speed of traffic will lead to accidents.
So residents have reached out to me and asked for a 20 mph speed limit to be imposed to reduce the risk and improve road safety around Parsonage Farm School.”
