Margaret Mullane MP was recently contacted by “Havering Mind” in regard to their social inclusion programme in Barking and Dagenham beginning on Thursday 25th July at Kingsley Hall, Parsloes Avenue, Dagenham, RM9 5NB.
The Social Inclusion project has been running in Havering now for several years and has recently moved over to Barking & Dagenham. This project is for people experiencing mental health problems with the associated isolation it can bring. Mind looks at things that can negatively impact mental health. They also give clients an opportunity to learn to connect with other people, their local community and nature. They show clients how much is going on in their local community and support them in getting involved. The programme consists of 10 weekly sessions in a group setting.
The topics covered are:
1. Introduction
2. Mindfulness
3. Self-compassion
4. Connecting with others
5. My Health and Me
6. Finding Solutions
7. Mood and Food
8. Moving forwards (creating a plan)
9. Community week
10. Marking achievements / ending session

Margaret Mullane MP: “Under 14 years of a Tory Government, we have seen a significant increase in waiting lists. Charities like Havering Mind have been essential throughout this time to provide the public with support.
The Labour Government has pledged to recruit 8,500 new mental health staff to treat children and adults, with New Young Future hubs to provide open access to mental health services for children and young people in every community.
I applaud the hard work of Havering Mind in helping those living with mental health issues. I look forward to continuing to work alongside them.”
