Tackling Street Crime in Rainham

Margaret Mullane MP for Dagenham and Rainham has called for quick action from the police to tackle street crimes and anti social behaviour in the Rainham Village area.

Residents have raised concerns with Margaret about a range of criminal activities around the centre of Rainham Village. In response to this the Labour MP has contacted the Havering Met Police Borough Commander to raise questions about policing strength in the area to both deter further crimes and also track down the perpetrators.

Margaret commented “I have received disturbing reports of incidents where local people in Rainham Village have been intimidated by individuals who were apparently under the influence of drugs. I have also been told that there is evidence of drug taking around the town centre.

One parent has also contacted me in the last week about muggings with the perpetrators looking to steal mobile phones from children and youngsters.

I have brought this to the attention of the Borough Commander and asked for information on policing strength and patrolling activity in Rainham.”

Margaret went on to say “It is so important for the local community, shops and businesses that Rainham is a place in which people feel safe and are happy to go about in.”
