From Monday 18th August there will be temporary amendments to the c2c timetable.
Following the driest spring in over 50 years, the clay soil beneath sections of the c2c route has significantly dried and shrunk. This has led to uneven track surfaces in some areas, requiring precautionary measures to keep trains running safely.
As trains will operate at slower speeds in some places, services may run at slightly different times. A small number of services will also be adjusted to start or terminate at different stations, or not stop at certain stations.
The current temporary measures are expected to remain in place for two to three months.
Passengers are advised to check journey planners before travelling at c2c-online.co.uk and nationalrail.co.uk
In parallel, planned weeknight and weekend engineering works will continue, with Network Rail using this opportunity to improve track conditions.
