Avelon Road Update

Margaret Mullane PPC has been working with residents to put pressure on Havering Council for a ‘clean up’ of the Avelon Road estate. This includes reducing fly tipping, lobbying for CCTV and modernising the playground equipment. Margaret also spoke with residents about other issues around housing which she has since taken up with Havering Council.

Earlier this month (Nov23) Havering Council got back to Margaret stating that from a health and safety point of view the children’s play area is in good condition and has had very few issues raised to remedy following the last inspection. However, repairs of the slide are due to be addressed and jet washing of the area is planned.

With regard to fly-tipping both on public highway and housing areas, regular visits are carried out, waste is then cleared and if evidence found, enforcement action may follow.

Havering council encourage all residents to report issues of fly-tipping on the Councils website.

Margaret continues to stay on this issue, in particular pushing for CCTV to reduce fly tipping on the estate. Margaret has also raised issues regarding the estate car park which residents have reported due to the rise in anti-social behaviour.
